Beach Safety Tips
- Swim only at lifeguard-managed beaches. Stay within the designated swimming area marked by buoys.
- June to October is box jellyfish (habu kurage) season. Swim inside jellyfish prevention nets and wear a rash guard.
- If stung by a jellyfish, pour vinegar on the affected area and alert the lifeguard immediately.
- Be aware of rip currents. If caught in one, swim parallel to the shore to escape, never directly against it.
- Never swim after consuming alcohol.
- Always supervise children closely and ensure an adult accompanies them at all times.
- Do not touch coral or marine life. Please help protect Okinawa's ocean ecosystem.
